City’s muggers snatch easy bike in Nilphamari

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested three member of a gang for their alleged involvement in the murder of driver Abdul Halim in Nilphamari.
The members of the gang used to loot people’s belongings in Dhaka, its surrounding areas and North Bengal. The gang did not hesitate to kill anyone if they were prevented from snatching.
CID’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sheikh Nazmul Alam gave above information at a press conference held at the CID headquarters on Monday.
He said that acting on a tip-off a team of CID conducted raid at Maikuli area in Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila on Sunday and arrested three persons
named Masum Ali, Saader Ali and Sambaru on charge of murdering driver Abdul Halim in Nilphamari.
A knife was used in the murder and an easy bike were recovered from their possession. The leader of the gang managed to escape the scene. Police were trying to arrest the leader as well as other members of the gang, he said.
Nazmul Alam said the members of this gang went to Nilphamari from Dhaka to snatch easy bikes. They boarded Abdul Halim’s easybike as passengers at 11:15 pm on February 21.Later, they tied Halim’s hands and legs with ropes and killed him with a sharp weapon and snatched the easy bike, he said.
The next day, the police recovered the body from Itapir Bridge beside the road. A murder case was registered in Sadar Police Station of Nilphamari district in this incident, he further said.
