Noise pollution becomes a serious health problem for the Dhaka city people, a latest research has been found it.
Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS) of Department of Environmental Science of Stamford University, Bangladesh conducted the research.
CAPS researchers with Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) revealed the research findings in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Friday.
The report showed that people in every area of the capital city are suffering from acute noise pollution.
According to the report the noise pollution turned a serious environmental problem for the nation.
Next generation will be harmed physically and mentally hazardously for the unbearable noise pollution.
“The level of noise pollution has crossed its allowed level in every area of city corporations according to a recent research findings of the Directorate General of Environment. It has a serious negative impact on our people, especially on the kids,”
said Professor Dr. Ahmad Kamrzzaman Majumder, Chairman of Department of Environmental Science of Stamford University. He said, noise pollution makes children’ moodless. They are loosing hearing power. It is creating mental pressure, which pushed to serious health problems.
High noise pollutions also harmed pregnant mothers’ and their children health.
Dr. Abdul Matin, Vice-President of BAPA presided over the programme. Mohammad Ali Nokee, VC of the university, Sarwar Imtiaz, former DG of Directorate General of Environment, among others, were present.
The speakers said that vehicles horns are not only source of noise pollutions but various machine using inside home like pressure cooker, food blender, vacuum cleaners also source of noise pollution.
