Criminal Investigation Department of Police has arrested a morgue worker on charges of sexual intercourse with corpses at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka.
CID arrested the 20-year-old man Munna Vagat on Thursday after allegations of having sex with dead women surfaced against him, Sheikh Md Rezaul Haider, an additional
deputy inspector general of CID, told reporters in a press briefing in its headquarters on Friday.
Munna Vagat is a nephew of Jatan Kumar Lal, a mortician of the hospital. Munna has ben working as an assistant to Jatan Lal for the last two years,” he said.
According to CID, arrested Munna had been raping dead women in the morgue. Recently, the CID started investigating Munna after receiving such a complaint. Munna was arrested after the initial investigation revealed the truth of the incident.
CID officials said Munna used to rape the dead women from the bodies that were taken to the morgue for autopsy from different places.
CID official said raping dead women was one of the worst acts in the world. No healthy and normal person can do such a horrible thing. The arrested Munna has a perverted mentality. Otherwise, he is not supposed to commit such a thing.
Dom and Munna’s uncle Jatan Kumar Lal, who is in charge of the morgue at Suhrawardy Hospital, said Munna has been working in the morgue as his assistant for the last two / three years. He would stay at night with two / three other people in a room next to the morgue.
He said Munna could not be found suddenly. His mobile number was also closed. That is why they have filed a general diary (No. 1237) with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital on Thursday evening.
Regarding the allegation of rape of dead women against Munna, Jatan Lal Kumar said, ‘Munna used to use cannabis or drugs from time to time. But I don’t think he can do such a thing. ‘
“The man was arrested after police found evidence,” said CID official. “During preliminary interrogation, Munna confessed to raping the dead women” he added.
