A ‘Chromosome Research Centre’ has been established at the Department of Botany of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the Centre as chief guest at a function held on Monday at the Departmental Auditorium.
Director of the Chromosome Research Centre Prof Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr M Imdadul Hoque addressed as special guest. Chairman of the Department of Botany Prof Dr Moniruzzaman Khondker gave vote of thanks.
Prof Arefin Siddique urged the teachers and researchers to play pioneering role to develop health services of the country using the Chromosome Research Centre properly.
He highly expressed the hope that the researchers of the Chromosome Research Centre of Dhaka University would play an important role in promoting socio-economic development of the country through education and research.
