National Cricket: Chittagong take 122-run lead over Barisal on day 3

Chittagong Division took a 122-run first innings lead against Barisal Division in a Tier-2 match on the 3rd day of the four-day National Cricket League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
Hosts Chittagong Division, riding on two centuries by national opener Tamim Iqbal and Tasamul Haque on Sunday, resumed the first innings with overnight total 444 for 7 and declared the innings at 467 runs for 7 in 161 overs, adding only 23 runs.
In reply, Barisal Division fought bravely with Chittagong to score 345 for 9 in 86 overs when the bails were drawn for the 3rd day (Monday).
Al-Amin contributing 72 run off 92 balls hitting six fours and one six while Salman Hossain made 84-ball 51 runs, featuring six boundaries.
Besides, Shahriar Nafees (44), Shahin Hossain (38), Fazle Mahmudd 34, Shohag Gazi (29), Monir Hossain (27) were the other notable scorers for Barisal.
Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed three wickets for 59 runs while Moniuzzaman and Iftekhar Sajjad took two wickets each conceding 61 and 99 runs respectively.
In a Tier-1 match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, replying to Dhaka Division’s first inning score 327 runs, Dhaka Metropolis team resumed the first innings with overnight total 221 for 4 and were all out for 352 runs in 124 overs to take a 25-run first inning lead.
Night watch batsman Shamsur Rahman (118) scored 138 runs off 258 balls featuring 14 fours and one six, Mehrab Hossain Junior, who was in batting with 14 runs, made 129-ball 37 runs including four fours while number seven Sharifullah scored 52 runs off 105 balls with three fours and one six.
Mosharraf Hossain was the most successful among Dhaka Division bowler claiming five wickets for 120 runs while Mahbubul Alam took two for 71 runs.
In reply, Dhaka Division opened the 2nd innings and faced initial batting collapse losing four wickets for 63 runs in 32 overs with Rakibul Hasan and Nadif Chowdhury were in batting with 21 and 6 runs respectively.
In another Tier-1 match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, hosts Khulna Division, with first innings total 211 runs, resumed the 2nd innings Monday morning with 30 for no loss and were all out for 208 runs, giving a winning target of 200 runs for Rangpur, which scored 220 runs in the first innings.
Sanjit Saha made major damage in the 2nd innings of Khulna grabbing seven wickets for 64 runs in his 26/5 over spell.
In reply, Rangpur Division opened the 2nd innings in the afternoon and lost six wickets for 58 runs in 37.5 at the end of the 3rd day with Naeem Islam scoring not out 15 and national all rounder Nasir Hossain 17 runs.
Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak captured four wickets for 44 runs.
At Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Borgra, replying to Sylhet Division’s first innings total 328 runs, Rajshahi Division resumed the first innings with overnight 183 for 3 and were all out for 380 runs featuring a fine century by one down Farhad Hossain.
Farhad Hossain of Rajshahi, who was in batting with 80 runs, scored 145 runs off 250 balls hitting 21 boundaries. Opener Nazmul Hossain Shanta scored 62 and number seven Farhad Reza made not out 54 runs.
Rahatul Ferdous took five wickets for 80 runs.
In reply, Sylhet Division opened the 2nd innings and scored 14 for no loss in 8 overs.
