A 4-member delegation led by Prof Jian Hua Miao, Vice-Chairperson of Central Conservatory of Music, a leading music school in China called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman on Sunday.
Other Chinese delegation members- Prof Zhang Boyu, Lin Qiaofung and Liu Chang- were also present at the programme held at the VC’s office of the university.
Treasurer of DU Prof Md. Kamal Uddin, Chairperson of the DU Music Department Tumpa Samadder, Dr Mohosina Akter Khanom and some other faculty members were present on this occasion. During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on music, dance, theatre and fine art by the University of Dhaka and Central Conservatory of Music, China. Exchanges of teachers and students between the two institutions were also discussed in the meeting.
Besides, they discussed the possibilities of holding of a cultural program in China under joint auspices of the University of Dhaka and Central Conservatory of Music. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.
DU VC apprised the guests of a brief history of Dhaka University as well as its academic and research activities.
