This information was known by visiting the wholesale market of raw materials in Ishwardi market and the municipal raw material market.
Azad, a trader in the market, said that in the past 15 days, arada was sold at the rate of Tk 180 per kg. And the price in the retail market went up by Tk 200 per kg.
From Friday (August 26), raw chillies are being sold at Tk 30 per kg. He said that the supply of raw pepper in the market has increased more than before.
Trader Bashir Ahmed in Artat said that most of the pepper in Ishwardi comes from Ataikula in Pabna, Bheramara and Bogra in Kushtia. Local farmers do not grow pepper. After the entry of Indian chillies in the market, prices started to fall. Seeing that the price is high in the market, some have picked up unripe pepper and marketed it. But India no longer needs pepper. When the price went up, the supply of pepper was short. He also said that there was some manipulation by the big businessmen of Mokam.
Retailer Malek said that the sale of green pepper has increased and said that when the price increased, the retail buyers did not buy more than 50-100 grams. Now the price is reduced by 250-500 grams and even one kg is being bought.
