Two drug addicts stole a two-and-a-half-year-old child in Chanka Makarpool village of Saturia upazila in Manikganj. The two criminals are Jhantu and Sajal Mia. The name of the stolen child is Abu Bakar. The theft happened early Sunday morning. Two drug addicts took the child and sold it to Taslima Begum of Khalisa Daira village of Daulatpur area of Manikganj for Tk1000.
Abu Bakr’s father Arif Hossain said that he woke up early on Sunday and found the door of the house open. By lighting the lamp, it can be seen that a leak has been cut inside the house. When he called his wife Jasmine, he did not find their baby son in bed. Neighbors were called out and miked on the mosque’s microphone.
The local people arrested Sajal and Taslima from Kawakhola area of neighboring Nagarpur area in the morning and informed Saturia police station. The child was rescued along with the two accused from Nagarpur area. Another one named Jhantu Mia escaped.
Locals said that both Jhantu and Sajal are drug addicts. They did the work for drug money.
Manikganj Superintendent of Police Md Golam Azad Khan visited the scene of child abduction.
Saturia police station OC Muhammad Ashraful Alam said the child was stolen and sold for Tk 1,000. Two people have been arrested in this incident. An accused named Jhantu has escaped and police are working to nab him. The child’s father has filed a complaint with the police station.
