Prity , a 4- year old daughter of one Md. Polash Izaradar of village Dhalirkhanda under Monmgla Upazila in the district met her tragic end when her elder brother Ishan (7) was playing with his father’s licensed pistol on Monday morning.
SI Md. Manjur Elahi, 2nd Officer of Mongla PS and the family source of the deceased said that on Sunday night Palash Izaradar, a businessman took out the cartridges from the chamber of his licensed pistol, put it into his almirah and fell asleep.
In the following morning his son Ishan opened the almirah, took the pistol from it and was playing with his sister Prity with the pistol. But at one stage the pistol was fired and its cartridge pierced through the head of his sister, She was rushed to Mongla Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
The dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for its autopsy. In this connection a UD case was lodged with the local PS.
Police said, the cartridges were brought out from the chamber of the pistol but one of them remained in its chamber and consequently, the incident happened.
