Gold scandal: C&F owner sent to jail

A court in Chittagong directed to send the owner of the C&F agent – Amin Brothers Fazlul Hoque to jail custody on Tuesday after surrender before the court .
After surrender , the counsel of the accused Fazlul Hoque prayed for bail but Metropolitan Session Judge rejected the baiul petition and ordered to send him to jail custody. Metroppolitan PP Advocate Md. Fakruddin chowdhury confirmed the matter to this correspondent while contacted. Mentionable that Sadarghat thana police of CMP recovered these smuggled gold of about 20 kgs from the godown of AC Mela Electronics located at Anu Majirghat area in Sadarghat in city on April 8, 2015 . Sensing the news of the gold smuggling in disguise of Electronics goods import from middle east countries, police raided the godown of AC Mela Electronics and managed to recover gold bars and ornaments worth about Tk.8 crores from the godown. Instantly police rounded up younger brother of AC Mela Md. Imran and Godown manager Giasuddin from the spot.
 Owner of AC Mela was absconding since then, sources said. SI of Sadarghat thana Anowar Hossain filed the smuggling case before the police authority accordingly. Police submitted charge sheet in March last before the court accusing 9 persons allegedly involved with the smuggling of gold. The accused in the charge sheet were two owners viz. Md. Jasimuddin, Bhabatosh Rana, arrested Imran and Giasuddin, C&F owner Fazlul Hoque, Farid, Rubel Md. Soaib, and Abu Taher.
 The case is now in final stage in Metropolitan Session Judge court for hearing of framing charge against the accused, court sources said.
