CCC polls symbol allocated

In the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) election, BNP supported Mayor candidate M Manzoor Alam has been allotted Orange symbol, while the AL backed mayor candidate AJM Nasir got Elephant symbol.
Returning Officer Abdul Baten distributed the symbols in the port-city’s
Muslim Hall at about 9:30am on Friday.
There was no other candidate except Manzoor for Orange, but Nasir got ‘Elephant’ through a lottery held by the EC officials, as Jatiya Party-backed mayor candidate Solaiman Alam Sheth also wanted the same symbol. Overjoyed by the lottery result, Nasir told the journalists, “I asked my mother which symbol I should choose. She said: Take Elephant”
 Monzoor’s son, Sarwar Alam, was present at the symbol allotment process meeting on his behalf. He said, “We wanted orange as our symbol. We have got it. Now I urge the people to vote for orange to make my father a winner. There are 12 contenders in the mayor race this time.
The allocation of election symbols began at 9 am yesterday on the Muslim Hall premises and all the Mayor and councilor candidates were present. Symbols had already been allocated to all 12 Mayor and 285 councilor candidates yesterday. Of them, Jatiya Party Mayor aspirant Solaiman Alam got Dish Antena and BNF candidate Arif Moinuddin was given Bus symbol.
 The EC allocated Peacock to IF nominee M. Sukkur, Wheel to IOF nominee MA Matin, Table Clock to Islami Andolan nominee Waiz Hossain Bhuyia, Hilsha fish to JSC nominee Shafiul Alam, Telescope to Gazi Alauddin, Cricket Bat to Syed Sajjad Zoha, Flask to Saifuddin Rabi and Safety Match to Abul KalamAzad.
 It is mentionable that maximum symbols except orange had bee allocated through voting process symbol, sources said.
