CCC Mayor AJM Nasiruddin said city corporation has taken initiatives to produce fuel, fertilizer and power by using the municipal garbage through device of modern technology. He said in modern world, the garbage is being used as raw materials of different products. Mayor said a number of local and foreign oranisations shown keen interest in this sector with technogolical assistances.
He disclosed it while visiting the Garbage Treatment Plant & Dumping station at Ananda Bazar in Halishahar in city onMonday evening.
City mayor said the garbage is so far one of the prime reasons for causing peoples sufferings and environmental pollution.
We are planning to utilize the wastes by turning those into economic resources.
The mayor said the CCC already chalked up plans with foreign development assistance and technologies to implement the idea and expected the port city to take a cleaner and greener look in next three years.
He said CCC is a service providing body . He said one of the civic service is to keep city clean and pollution free.
He emphasized the need for successful operation of door to door garbage collection and its proper use. During his visit at Halishahar garbage plant, ward councilor Md. Shafiul Alam, Personal secretary of Mayor Raihan Yousuf, executive engineers of CCC Sudip Basak, Abu Sadat, Md. Taoyub, Plant In- charge Engr. Emdad Hossain were present, a CCC sources said.
