CCC Mayor reaffirms pledge to make Ctg a world class city

Chittagong City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Monday reiterated his pledges to turn Chittagong into a world class city within next three years.
The mayor, however, acknowledged that changing mindset of the city residents is somewhat challenging in turning Chittagong into a green, clean and liveable cosmopolitan city.
“We have already distributed 20 lakh leaflets for raising public awareness about cleanliness and have a plan to distribute one crore more”, the mayor said adding that the CCC authority would fine on the spot, file cases and arrest the people who will dump garbage violating rules of the corporation from January 1, 2017.
AJM Nasir Uddin said this while addressing in a gathering of eminent citizens and elites at the Engineers’ Institution this afternoon to mark the completion of his one year in office.
The Mayor said door-to-door garbage collection and removable has already started in some residential areas, gradually garbage bins will be distributed in all dwelling houses.
“Initially the door-to-door garbage collection and removal will start in seven wards in the CCC from next month and this project will be completed within this year,” Nasir said.
Highlighting his achievements, the Mayor said CCC has achieved 100 percent success in removal of bill boards and bringing back organizational discipline during the last one year.
“I empathically say that CCC has been kept free from corruption, nepotism, politicisation and I consider criticism as positive,” he added.
Referring to one of the pressing issues of the city residence, the Mayor hoped that water logging problems in the city would be resolved within next three years and he also claimed that the water stagnation did not last anywhere in the city for more than an hour.
About his election pledges AJ M Nasir said the triennial plan has already been taken for sustainable development in all sectors of the corporation and the pledges which remain unimplemented would be executed within next years.
