At least four people have died and two have been injured in a collision between a bus and a battery-run three-wheeler near Shibpur-Kostaparha on the Tangail city bypass. The accident took place on the Bangabandhu bridge-Tangail-Dhaka highway around 9:45am on Friday. Highway police’s Elenga camp Sergeant Kamaruzzaman Raj said all the dead were passengers of the Easybike, the popular name for the battery-powered three-wheelers. The bus had no passengers. Quoting witnesses, he said, “The Easybike collided head on with the speeding bus of Prantik Paribahan. The three-wheeler was crushed and three died on the spot.” He added that the injured were taken to the Tangail Medical College Hospital, where one of them later died.
