Business Desk :
Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has protested Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) initiative to ristrict building height in a bid to control population density in the capital.
In a press conference on Sunday, it also said that it might cause public suffering and will intensify the prevailing housing crisis in the capital.
Addressing the event, REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin (Kajal) urged the government to cancel the decision which was proposed in the newly prepared Detailed Area Plan (DAP).
He said that instead of the height restriction, the monitoring agency RAJUK could decentralize services for the development of other areas especially urban areas.
He said that before taking any mechanism to control population, RAJUK should find the causes of increasing population density.
He found that due to education, health and livelihood huge number of people migrated to the capital despite inadequate public amenities in the capital.
