A new burn unit was inaugurated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Sunday morning to ensure better treatment for burn victims amid growing acts of sabotage countrywide.
BSMMU vice chancellor Professor Pran Gopal Datta inaugurated the Burn Unit on the ground floor of the university’s Cabin Block.
An expert team will remain on duty for 24-hours in three shifts to provide treatment to the patients, said a BSMMU press release.
At present, the burn unit has a total of 10 beds, which will be increased gradually in accordance with the demand of patients. Treatment at the burn unit will be given free of cost, the press release added.
BSMMU pro-VC (administration) professor Mohammod Shahidullah, pro-VC (academic) professor Md Ruhul Amin Miah, pro-VC (research and development) Prof Md. Shahidullah Sikder and director (hospital) Brigadier General (Retd) Md Abdul Majid Bhuiyan, among others, were present at the inaugural function.
