The regional office of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) disbursed Taka 940.55 crore loan among poor people in the country’s north-west region to help them generate their income through self-employment in agricultural and non-agricultural sector.
About 2.18 lakh people including 1.76 lakh women were brought under the credit scheme through forming 6,310 Bittahin Samabaya Samity, of which 5,115 for women.
BRDB is implementing the programme titled Rural Livelihood Project (RLP) as a follow-up of the Rural Poverty Cooperative Project (RPCP) in 49 upazilas in Rajshahi and 11 upazilas in Rangpur divisions since January 1999, according to official sources.
