Brazil in last four of U-20 World Cup

Five times Champions Brazil were lucky to have beaten Portugal 3-1 on penalty shootout to advance to the semifinals of the 20th edition of the Under-20 World Cup Football underway in New Zealand, but Germany made exit having lost to Mali in penalty shootout after 1-1 draw in the regulation period. All the matches were played on June 14.
In the two other quarterfinals, Senegal beat Uzbekistan 1-0 and Serbia defeated the USA in the tie-breaker 6-5 after goalless regulation period. The fates of three quarterfinal matches out of four were decided in tiebreaker.
In the semifinals Brazil will meet Senegal in Christchurch while Mali will take on Serbia in Auckland on June 17. It may be said that highest six times Champions Argentina were eliminated in the first round. The final match and the play-off match for 3rd place will be held on June 20 in Auckland.
