BPJA`s two day-long photo exhibition starts

The two-day long photo exhibition of Bangladesh Photo Journalists’ Association (BPJA) began on Thursday in the Auditorium of BPJA.
The theme of the exhibition is “Beauty of the Bangla.” The exhibition will end today (Friday) at 8pm.
Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the function as the chief guest while BPJA President A K M Mohsin presided over it.
General Secretary of BJPA Golam Mostafa moderated the function while President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists’ (BFUJ) and former President of Jatiya Press Club Sowkat Mahmud, General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club Farida Yasmin, Secretary General of BFUJ Omar Faruque, Advisers of BJPA Md Enayet Karim, Helena Jahangir and Syed Razia Mostafa were present as the special guests.
Founder of Drik Gallery Shahidul Alam and President of Bangladesh Photography Society were also present, among others.
Sayeed Khokon said, the photojournalists have been rendering service to eliminate corruption and other irregularities from the society by publishing photos.
 “Dhaka South City Corporation has been working to make Dhaka an ideal city. The photojournalists help us. I surely remember their contribution,” the Mayor said.
He also announced to introduce prize for photojournalists for their outstanding performance.
Three have been nominated as the best photojournalists. Shafiuddin Ahmed Bitu, Chief Photojournalist of Daily Naya Diganta, stood first, Anisur Rahman of the Daily Star second and Md Asad of the Daily Shokaler Khobor third.
A total of 56 photos out of about 1100 were selected for final competition. The programme will start today at 10 AM.
