Boro paddy procurement drive begins in Netrakona

Boro paddy and rice procurement drive started here today under the auspices of Netrakona district food department.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Netrakona Dr. Torun Kanti Shikder formally inaugurated the drive by purchasing 40 metric tons of Boro rice from two rice mills owners at Netrakona sadar government food warehouse.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the DC said the Boro paddy and rice procurement drive was launched here today by opening eleven purchasing centers in the district, which is popularly known as “grain bowel” of the country, following the instructions of the government to ensure fair prices of paddy and rice.
“Under the drive, the farmers will get the opportunity to sell their Boro paddy directly to the purchasing centers at the rate of Taka 22 per kilogram of the paddy while the rice millers will get the chance to sell their improved quality rice in the purchasing centers at the rate of Taka 32 per kilogram of the rice”, the DC said.
