Staff Reporter :
The leaders of the newly formed central committee of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, and the post-deprived leaders have taken position against each others.
The post holder leaders took position in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Tuesday, while the
post-deprived JCD leaders and their followers took position on the same venue on Monday to register their protest against the committee.
Although the dissidents did not take position on Monday, they are scheduled to gather on the venue today (Wednesday) to stage demonstration. In this backdrop, the BNP senior leaders are feeling embarrassment and apprehending untoward incident during the counter programme of the rival groups.
The post-deprived JCD men have been continuing their protest demanding cancellation of the new committee and removal of BNP student affairs secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie and his deputy Sultan Salahuddin Tuku from their party posts. Their another demand was withdrawal of expulsion orders of several rebel leaders.
The JCD rebels threatened to continue the ongoing agitation unless their demands are met. Ferdous Ahmed Munna and some other rebel leaders said that Annie and Tuku created the ongoing crisis in the JCD by forming a pocket committee. They called upon BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to remove the two leaders from their posts.
On October 14, Khaleda Zia approved a 201-member partial committee of the organisation with Rajib Ahsan as president and Akramul Hasan general secretary. But the JCD men, having no place in the committee, started staging demonstrations in front of the Nayapaltan office the following day.
