BNP leaders distribute cooked food among poor

BNP leaders distributed cooked food among poor people for the third and final day on Sunday at different areas of the city in observance of the 33rd death anniversary BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam and some other senior party leaders distributed food at 22 points in the city in favour of Khaleda Zia as she was sick.
Fakhrul started the social charity service from Azimpur Government Primary School ground at noon.
Later, he also distributed food in Kamrangir Char, Lalbagh Crossing, Sadarghat and Dholaikhal areas.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office, Fakhrul alleged that ruling party men intercepted their programme at many places in the city.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas also distributed food in Jurain, Shyampur, Dhalpur, Basabo and Khilgaon areas.
Besides, BNP standing committee member ASM Hanan Shah distributed food in DCC market area of Gulshan-2 and Nazrul Islam Khan in Postagola, Loharpool and Katerpoll areas.
BNP chairperson’s adviser AZM Zahid also distributed food in Nayatola and Moghbazar areas.
Like Saturday, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zai could not join it as she was feeling unwell.
The BNP chairperson has been suffering from leg pains since she returned from Munshiganj on Wednesday after attending a public rally there.
Khaleda assigned senior BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to attend the food distribution programme at different parts of the city in albescence of her.
BNP took a three-day programme of distribution food among the destitute, marking the 33rd death anniversary of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia inaugurated the programme on Friday by distributing food at 25 points of the city on Friday.
BNP, its associate bodies and different socio-cultural organisations have been observing the 33rd death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman with various programmes.
On May 30, 1981, Zia was assassinated by a group of disgruntled army officers at Chittagong Circuit House.
