Unknown disease in Ctg: Blood samples of victims collected

A probe team consisting of the members of Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and Extended Programme on Immunisation (EPI), on Monday, arrived Chattogram from Dhaka to investigate the ‘unknown’ disease that claimed four lives in Hathazari.
Besides, the deaths of the four, 28 others fell sick yet to be ascertained disease outbreak in Tripura Palli of Hathazari over the past six days.
The civil surgeon of Chattogram, Dr Muhammad Azizur Rahman Siddique said the team paid a visit to the Tripura Palli area, talked with the members of the deceased families and visited the children who are admitted at hospital.
They also collected the samples of their blood, he said. The officials of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and World Health Organisation (WHO) are also scheduled to visit the area in the afternoon, Dr Siddique said.
