BSS, Dhaka :The much-talked about SIM verification using biometric method, which was launched in December 16 last year, will be ended today midnight.At the last-ditch effort, cellular phone users in Bangladesh have rushed into the customer care centers and retailers to verify their SIM to avert deactivation that is scheduled to start from the zero hour of June 1 (Tuesday midnight). Announcing her firm determination to deactivate all the unverifiedSIMs, State minister for posts and telecommunication Tarana Halim reiterated her call to all cellphone users for re-registration of each SIM.So far, 10.09 crore SIMs have been re-registered, Tarana told journalists on Sunday while the total number of the verified SIMs reached to 10,25,42,799 till Monday midnight.According to the statistics of Bangladesh Telecommunication (BTRC) there are 13.19 crore mobile phone users in the country.
