Kyle Haywood, new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said that the authorities of Biman were planning to expand its network on regional routes and increase its flights in existing routes.
He placed the plan in his first briefing at Balaka headquarters in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
“A number of flights on different routes including Dhaka-Bangkok, Dhaka-Singapore and Dhaka-Beijing will be increased by the year to make the sector profitable,” he said.
The number of weekly flights on Dhaka- Kuala
Lumpur route has been increased to 10 from seven and on Dhaka- Kolkata increased to 14 from seven, he said.
Two Boeing 737 aircrafts will be added to the Biman fleet by the year-end. Haywood, a South-African-born British citizen, joined Biman on January 1.
