Agricultural machinery, seeds and fertilizers are distributed among marginal farmersof Bijoynagar upazila under Brahmanbaria district.
Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, MP, President, Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism inaugurated the distribution ceremony at Upazilla Parishad premises on Monday where many farmers were present to get the agri assistance under the financial year 2020-2021. Upazilla Nirbahi Officer, Agriculture officer were, among others, present on the occasion.
Upazila NIrbahi Officer KM Yasser Arafat said,the government’s subsidy policy to change the fate of farmers was really commendable. Upazila Agriculture Officer Khizir Hossain Pramanik said agricultural equipment such as 10 combined harvesters, 1 rice trans-planter and 1 reaper machine were distributed among the marginal farmers of 10 unions. The government of Bangladesh, the agriculture friendly government, is giving 80 percent subsidy on the purchase of agricultural machinery to motivate the farmers of the country. With this policy of the government, the farmers of the country will be able to harvest paddy and cut it in less time at low cost.
NooreAlam, Upazila Plant Protection Officer, said that the government has encouraged the farmers to increase the cultivation of aus paddy through this incentive. The residents of Kalachhara area of Bishnupur union of this upazila have never planted aman.
A total of 500 farmers in 10 unions of the upazila have been given 5 kg of Aus paddy seed (Bri-48), 20 kg of DAP fertilizer, 10 kg of MOP fertilizer and AusBri 48 rice variety for compensation per acre. 4/5 tons of paddy can be produced per hectare of land in 110 days. This will play an important role in meeting the total demand for paddy in the country.
Presided over by KM Yasser Arafat, Upazilla Nirbahi Oficer, the function was attended by Agriculture Officer Khizir Hossain Pramanik, Assistant Commissioner (VM) Rabia Afsar Saima, Project Implementation Officer Shahinur Jahan, Upazila Engineer Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, officials of all departments of the upazila, people’s representatives of 10 unions, political leaders.
