BGB starts telemedicine service

The Director General of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Aziz Ahmed on Thursday inaugurated the teleconsultative health service of BGB through mobile telephone.
The service would bring the five BGB hospitals in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Thakurgaon and Chuadanga under the same network. It will also allow BGB personnel and their families living in remote areas to access the service.
It may be mentioned that under the BGB reorganization scheme three hospitals in Khagrachari, Thakurgaon and Chuadanga were inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 20, 2015 – BGB Day.
The tele-medicine service started on July 1, 2015, experimentally and has provided medi-care to 3500 people so far. Currently there are 1026 BGB personnel with non-communicable diseases like cardiac problems, cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.
The program plans to have a complete data base of all BGB personnel and their family members, soon. Currently the data base has one lakh and 27 thousand medical entries.
