BGB seizes goods, drugs worth Tk 48.14cr in February

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized different kinds of smuggled goods and narcotic products worth Tk 48.14 crore by conducting various drives in different places including the border areas of the country during the last month (February).
On Monday, according to a press release signed by Mohammad Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of BGB confirmed the news to the media saying that BGB was able to seize various kinds of smuggling and drugs
worth Tk Tk 48.14 crore from the bordering areas and other places of the country.
Among the seized drugs, there were 5,72,413 pieces of yaba, 62,878 bottles of phensedyl, 16,679 bottles of foreign liquors, 914 cans of beer, 6.536kg heroin, 5,574 pieces of stimulant tablet, 5,657 bottles of scarf syrup, 1,657 sanegra tablets and 30,24,009 other tablets.
During the drives, the paramilitary force also seized 2.416kg of gold, 67,535 pieces of cosmetics products, 2,027 pieces of saris, 470 three pieces, 895 readymade garments, 21,487 metres of plain cloth, 3,707 cft wood, 729kg tea leaves, 33,000kg of coal, 8 trucks, 7 private cars, 6 pickup van, 8 CNG run auto- riskha and 66 motorcycles.
They also seized two pistols, 1 shooter gun, 1 pipe gun and 1 magazine during the period.
Besides, 224 people were arrested for their involvement in smuggling goods, 297 Bangladeshi nationals for crossing borders illegally and 9 Indian citizens during this period.
It said legal action has been taken against them for illegally crossing the border.
Earlier in January, BGB seized illegal drugs worth Tk 80.76 crore from across the country in January.
