KCC polls: BGB deployment from May 13

Election Commission decided to deploy 16 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from 13 May onwards as Khulna City Corporation election is scheduled to be held on May 15.
Some 22-24 security personnel with 12 arms will be stationed at each polling station. Apart from this, RAB, Striking Force and Mobile Team will be placed on standby. Election Commissioner, Brig Gen (Rtd) Shahadat Hossen Chowdhury told reporters in a reply to a question on Sunday noon (April 29).
The EC said EVM (electronic voting machine) will be used in a ward or in some centers in Khulna city corporation elections.
Saying that EC has no intention of deploying army in Khulna city corporation election, Shahadat Hossen Chowdhury said, “We have all sort of preparation necessary to make the election free and fair. Law and order situation will come under tight security measures for an acceptable election. Therefore, executive magistrates have come out to the field.” Earlier, he joined a meeting about KCC election as a chief guest in Khulna Circuit House. Secretary of the Election Commission Helaluddin Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, Deputy Commissioner Amin Ul Ahsan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Didar Ahmed, Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir, Returning Officer Yunuich Ali, RAB-6 captain Khandakar Rafiqul Islam and various officials of the administration were present.
