Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) agreed to keep the friendly relationship and would take steps against criminal activities at the border between the two countries.
The two border security forces also promised to work together to control crimes activities including abduction or detention of innocent Bangladeshi citizens at the border and killing, human trafficking, smuggling of drugs and narcotics, gold and weapons at the border. In this connection a press conference was held at BGB headquarter on last Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, a four day long border conference was held between Region Commander, BGB (Soraile, Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram) and IG, BSF (Meghalay, Gohati, Mizoram and Kacar and Tripura frontier) had ended on Feb 14 and the conference occurred after six months in a year.
Additional Deputy Director and Region Commander Brig Gen M Amirul Islam Shikder said Bangladesh has more concern about the border killings and human trafficking and smuggling. Both the forces have worked together to minimize the incidents and necessary steps have been taken in this regard. He also said that during the conference they discussed about extra withdrawn water from Feni River after violating of agreement, establishing of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) inside India and construction of 400 meter of drainage culvert inside Bangladesh near Akharua and 400 meters box culvert.
Dr Kanhu Charan Mahali, Deputy Director of BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier said to stop narcotic smuggling through border both BGB and BSF are working together.
