With Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year 1422, nearing fast, the price of Hilsa also started soaring every next day. Usually, the demand of Hilsa weighing 1 kg and above remains high in the markets in this time of the year. Though unbelievable, one Hilsa weighing 2.5kg, was sold for Tk 16,000 at wholesaler’s shop at Mawa on Tuesday. A fisherman caught the fish from Padma River at Sureshwar point and brought it to the Mawa Ghat for making high profit.
