The outgoing Venezuelan Ambassador to Bangladesh with residence in New Delhi Milena Santana-Ramirez called on Foreign Minister A H Mahmud Ali, MP, at his office on Tuesday morning.
Applauding Bangladesh’s successes in social sectors such as primary education, women empowerment, child and maternal health, the Venezuelan Ambassador said, “In many cases Bangladesh’s successes have encouraged Venezuela to replicate the same program there.”
Foreign Minister Mahmud Ali recalled his recent meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jose Jaua on the sideline of NAM Ministerial conference in Algiers.
He expressed his happiness at the readiness of Venezuelan Minister to visit Bangladesh and said that the two countries could forge cooperation in the field of energy, and welcomed Venezuelan FDI in Bangladesh.
The Venezuelan envoy also confirmed the support of her government for Bangladesh’s candidature for the re-election of Ambassador Ismat Jahan to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and assured of arranging support for Bangladesh’s candidature to the Human Rights Council.
