Sports Reporter :
Bangladesh T20 Cricket team will take on Afghanistan T20 Cricket team in their first Group-B match of the Asia Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates today. The match will start at 8.00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite channel GTV and state-owned television channel BTV will telecast the match live.
Afghanistan are now in a festive mood as they recorded a massive eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their first Group-B match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE on August 27.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Afghanistan faced each other in eight Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Of them, Bangladesh recorded three victories, while Afghanistan won five matches.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz said, ” We won over Afghanistan after playing a better brand of cricket. Last March, we won one T20I match, while Afghanistan got success in one T20I match. We are not far away from them. They have a strong bowling Lineup. But we have also experienced batters.”
Miraz said, ” If we are confused to face their stronger bowling attack, we cannot get success. We have to be confident to win in a match in an international cricket competition.”
If we judge the bowling attack of the two participating teams, we see Bangladesh have experienced left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan, promising left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Bangladesh have experienced right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
On the other hand, Afghanistan have variety in their spin bowling attack. They have world-class leg-spinner Rashid Khan, prolific right-arm spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman, promising off-spinner Mohammad Nabi.
Miraz said, ” Our bowling department specially spinners get same advantage as the Afghan spinners will get. Their spin attack is pretty good and our spin attack is up to the mark.”
He said, ” If we bat well in Sharjah, the result of the match will favour us. On the other hand, if they bat pretty good, they will get favour in the match. The batting is very important in Sharjah.”
