The speakers of International Day of Peace rally said Bangladesh is leading the movement of global peacekeeping.
Coalition of Local NGOs Bangladesh (CLNB) organized the rally while Harun Ur Rashid presided over.
A CLNB press release said the rally was told that Bangladesh is the world’s largest contributor to the United Nation (UN) peacekeeping with almost 10,000 army and polices. Almost 125 peacekeepers sacrificed their life to work in remote areas of peace keeping mission. UN peacekeeping is a large income source of the country.
The meeting demanded the name of a road in memory of UN peace army at Baridhara area in the city. Among others, primary education leader Mohammad Samsul Islam, Advocate Afjal Hossain and workers leader Dr Samsul Alam also spoke on the occasion.
