Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the second match of the two-Test series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur today. The match starts at 9.30 am. GTV will telecast live from the arena.
Captain of Bangladesh team Mahmudullah Riyad said, “We shall show positive approach. After examining the wicket, it seems to me that the pitch will act in fovour of spinners.
Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera are experienced and standard bowlers. They have quality to perform against our batsmen. But, we have skillful batsmen. I hope that if our batsmen take the challenge to face the bowlers of Sri Lanka, we shall bring a positive result.”
Riyad said, ” We did not win any Test for a long time. We have got a good chance. All of our players are thinking positively. If our players can play according to our plan, we shall earn a win.”
He said, ” It is challenging for us to fulfill the absence of Shakib. Shakib is a balanced cricketer. He is a world-class bowler as well as batsman. But, I hope our spinners will act their best instead
of Shakib. Abdur Razzak is ready to play.” He also said, ” The pitch of Mirpur usually act in favour of bowlers. The wicket is dry and will be challenging for the batsmen. But if our batsmen execute their skill, they can build a big innings.”
Captain of Sri Lanka Dinesh Chandimal said, ” Mominul is an extra-ordinary batsman. He is really a Test batsman. He has real Test temperament.
Chandimal said, ” To win the series, there is no alternative but to win this Test. Our target is to play good cricket. We shall prove our ability in the field.”
He said, ” After inspecting the pitch, it seems to me that the wicket is dry. The spinners will do better than that of pacers. I think there will be result here. The Test is challenging for the spinners of both teams.”
