A group of activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) CU unit yesterday injured President of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal of CU unit at Chittagong University campus .
Witnesses said , a group of BCL activists including Masum Khan and Rafi beat up Khorsed Alam, President CU Chattra Dal , Nazrul Islam , Joint Secretary and Nazmul Hossain , Sabbir Ahmmad , activists of CU Chhattra Dal in front of CU central Shaheed Minner whlile Chattra Dal leaders were leaving campus after placing tribute sto Freedom Fighter Mural on Independent Day. The BCL men also snatched away mobile and wallet from CU Chattra Dal President. On information, police rushed the spot but did not find him. Afterward victim was sent to CU Medical Center.
BCL activists are known as follower of Former Vice President Razaul Haque Rubel.
Former Vice President of CU BCl unit Rezaul Haque Rubel said “Our activists have resisted them because the anti-liberation force Chattra Dal`s leaders and activists have come to create sabotage and unstable situation on the campus. They got away them from the campus after chasing one step.”
CU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Shahidul Islam Shahid said: “We are not present in any procession but we have come to pay tribute to the martyrs of the war on the Independent Day. But the administration failed to provide security. Some BCl activists beat up our leaders. I doubt if they believe in the spirit of liberation war. ”
Asking about the incident, CU Assistant Proctor Liton Mitra said that an altercation was taken place.
Later, police rushed to the spot and rescued them and sent to medical. No one was seriously injured.
