BCL men attack cobbler cluster over stalking in Jessore

Atleast 15 people including women were wounded and a number of houses were set on fire at a cobbler cluster over lodging of protest against stalking at Durbadanga under Monirampur Upazila.
 Police arrested three of the accused after filing a case on Sunday, said Shafin Mahmud, assistant superintendent of police, Jessore.
The main accused Abu Sayeed, Convener, Durbadanga Union Council Unit Bangladesh Chhatra League is still untouched, locals and the police said.
Local lawmaker Swapan Bhattachariya, Deputy Commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir, Superintendent of Police, Jessore Anisur Rahman visited the spot on Sunday and assured the victim about taking strict steps against the culprits.
Shafin Mahmud told that a case was lodged with the police station naming 15 and about 15 unnamed others for the attack. He, however, told that the police could not be able to arrest BCL leader Abu Sayeed. Gobinda Das, a resident of the cobbler cluster told that armed terrorists led by BCL leader Abu Sayeed and Ibrahim attacked residents at the cobbler cluster at Durbadanga on Saturday as the protested stalking to three SSC examinees. ‘The miscreants set the residences of Mukunda Das, Nilpada Das and mine (Gobinda Das) on fire,’ he added.
