Bangladesh Bank (BB) has refixed the Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) at 5.5 percent for commercial banks on bi-weekly average basis from the existing 6.5 percent.
“Now it has been decided to refix this CRR at 5.5 percent on bi-weekly average basis with a provision of minimum 5.0 percent on daily basis effective from 15 April, 2018,” said a BB circular on Tuesday.
All scheduled banks in Bangladesh (including Shariah based banks) were earlier required to maintain 6.5 percent CRR with the central bank on bi-weekly average basis with a provision of minimum 6.0 percent on daily basis of their average total demand and time liabilities (ATDTL), added the circular.
