Four food shops fined by mobile court

A mobile court operated by Barishal City Corporation in the city fined four hotel and restaurants of the city on Monday. Imtiaz Mahmud Jewel, executive magistrate of BBC, led the mobile court at Charkawa river crossing area of Barishal port.Syed Enamul Haque, sanitary inspector of BCC and prosecution officer of the court, said Hotel Ma, Mayer Doya, Abdur Razzzak’s restaurant, Allahar Dan Biriyani House fined per head Tk.3000 for preparing food in nasty unhealthy place and process and mixing colour and different types of ingredients without maintaining health standard and violating rules.

Case lodged for violating divorced woman

A case has been lodged with Gournadi police station of Barishal on Sunday March 8, 2020 morning against a man for violating a divorced woman alluring to marry. Mother of the victim as complainant lodged the case accusing Jewel Kazi of Behar of Agoiljhara and police sending the victim to Barishal court for recording her statement and to Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for medical test on Sunday noon. Police also operating drives to arrest the accused, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer in charge (investigation) of Gournadi police station. Police sources said in the case the complainant alleged that the 35-year old divorced victim with her daughter residing at a rented house at Batajore of Gournadi. The accused alluring to marry created physical relationship with the victim and violated her several times including December 20, 2019 and February 2, 2020.However recently the accused denied marrying the victim cutoff contact with her, and so the case was lodged, police sources added.

Int’l Women’s Day observed

The International Women’s Day with the theme ‘I am Generation Equality-Realizing Women’s Rights’ was observed at Barishal on Sunday with day long various types of programmes including illuminating candles at early hours of the day, procession of women rights activists, children-juveniles painting competition, cultural functions, discussion on the theme, awarding 11 women for their success in different fields of works and livelihood. The awarded 11 women were Rabeya Khatun, Shah Sajeda, Puspa Chakraborty, Nigar Sultana Hanufa, Kohinur Begum, Dr. Banolata Murshida, Asma Chowdhury, Hasina Begum Nila, Rahima Sultana Kajal, Rashida Begum, and Nurjahan Begum. The programme held at Barishal Ashwini Kumar Hall was attended by officials of administration, law enforcers, different government and non government organizations. Besides women’s right activists organized mass-signature collection campaign calling to prevent violence and sexual harassments against girls and women, child marriage, cyber bulling etc. on Sunday morning in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall.Different socio-cultural-right activists organizations including Barishal University students also organizes precession and discussion to observe International Women’s Day 2020 at the campus

Four of a gang held

Rapid Action Battalion arrested four youths allegedly for practicing gang culture in the city. Unit-8 of RAB issuing a press release on Sunday said recently one person became severely injured by members of a gang culture activists and a case was lodged with Barishal Kotwali Police Station in this connection. RAB starting operation against the gang members arrested four from Kazipara and Sher E Bangla Road areas of the city on early Sunday. The arrestees were identified as Hafizur Rahman Rumi, 22, Ujjal Haoladar, 22, Hridoy Gazi, 20, and Arifur Rahman, 20, and knife, sharp weapons and toy-pistols used for creating fear and panic among the opponents and targets also recovered from the possessions of the arrestees, RAB sources said. The arrestees handed over to police on Sunday and they sent to jail after producing before the court at afternoon, said Nurul Islam, officer in charge of the police station.
