A housewife, who was allegedly gang-raped by three people, tried to take her own life in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal on Monday.
Quoting locals, Sazzad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kazirhat Police outpost in Mehendiganj, said the victim, aged about 17, got married three months ago and lived at her father’s house in Andharmanik village of the upazila as her husband worked in the capital.
The housewife had an extramarital affair with one Babu of Hizla upazila.
On Sunday, Babu took the victim to his house where he along with his two friends raped the girl.
