Banofuli Chakma wins bronze in Bangabandhu Gymnastics

Bangladesh won another medal in the Bangabandhu 5th Central South Asian Gymnastics Championship 2021 as Banofuli Chakma won a bronze medal in the women’s individual vaulting table event on the second day (Friday) of the tournament.
She scored 12.42 to acquire the medal by competing with some tough competitors. Miroshenichenko of Uzbekistan won the gold medal with a score of 12.88 and Zumabekova Gulnaz of the same country won the silver, hitting 12.82 scores.
Earlier, in the first session of the day, Uzbekistan won team and individual gold in the men’s all-around event. In the team event, Uzbekistan won gold with a score of 229.65. India scored of 225.50 to win the silver while and Sri Lanka won bronze with 198.95.
In the all-around event, Jurayev Utkirbek (Uzbekistan) won gold, hitting 77.45 scores while his compatriot Azmat Asadbeg won silver with a score of 75.30. India’s Omkar Ishwar Sindh obtained bronze medal with a score of 74.35.
Six teams took part in six events including floor, pumel, ring, vault, parallel bars and horizontal rear at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
In the afternoon, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation Ahmedur Rahman Bablu handed over the medals to the winners in the men’s and senior divisions.
