Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
To mark the 66th birth A solo painting exhibition titled Banner of Victory by artist Leeton Bhuiya is going on at the La Galerie of the Alliance Française de Dhaka in the city’s Dhanmondi area now.
Leeton Bhuiya is a freelancer on painting and visual arts writing drama/ film scripts and novel. He got his bachelor’s degree in fine arts (BFA) in 1983.
Banner of Victory is his fourth solo painting exhibition where
he will exhibit 25 artworks.
The media he used in his artworks are acrylic.
Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was present as the chief guest at the inauguration of the exhibition, while Dr Tahmeena, Associate Professor of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical Collage and Hospital also attended the
opening function as the guest
of honor.
In this time of continuous unrest in the society, Leeton Bhuiya thinks, “Paintings are an expression of remembrance of our
golden past to remind us how through sacrifices we finally achieved the Banner of Victory.” During the Liberation War,
people united together for their hopes and dreams to make this country a free nation. In the
current situation of our country
it has become essential to regain that sense of unity within us. This is the message Leeton Bhuiya would like to convey through his paintings- “let us unite again.” All that is going on around the artist leaves a profound impression on his mind; a sense of responsibility to express his thoughts through the ‘language’ of painting. Thus, for most of the artist’s paintings, ‘emancipation’ and ‘inner strength’ appear as the central subjects.
The exhibition will continue
till August 31. n
