Bank official among 2 held in ACC drives

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in their separate drives on Wednesday arrested two people on graft charges.
An ACC team, led by its deputy director M Abdus Sobhan, in association with police conducted a drive in the city’s Tejgaon area and arrested Pubali Bank officer Mashiul Alam.
On September 23, 2013, the Pubali Bank authorities filed a case against some graft suspects, including Mashiul Alam with the city’s Wari Police Station for reportedly swindling out Tk 1.48 crore from the bank’s RK Mission Road branch by preparing fake documents against 82 demand drafts (DDs).
Mashiul Alam was produced before the chief metropolitan magistrate court in the afternoon.
Another ACC team of Khulna Zila office led by its director Jayed Hossain Khan conducted another drive at LGED local office of Koyra upazila in Khulna and caught LGED sub-assistant engineer SM Habibullah red-handed while he was taking Tk 10,100 from a person in bribe.
Earlier, Habibullah demanded a bribe of Tk 50,000 from a contracting firm in disbursing payment when one of its officials came to the LGED local office yesterday to bribe him.
ACC deputy assistant director Abul Hasan Kazi filed a case with Koyra Police Station in connection with the incident.
