Bangladesh’s success in health sector lauded

The World Bank (WB) lauded the Bangladesh achievements in health sector and assured health minister Mohammad Nasim of increasing its cooperation and financial assistance for the sector.
The WB’s senior director of health, nutrition and population Dr Timothy Grant Evans said this during a meeting with health minister Mohammad Nasim at Geneva on Thursday.
Nasim is now in Switzerland to attend the 68th Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), said a press release of the health ministry.
Mohammad Nasim told the WB director that Bangladesh is also eager to work closely with the WB and the Bangladesh health sector attaches priority to maintaining transparency and accountability.
He said that a network has been built across the country to ensure health services for all and e-card and telemedicine services have been introduced.
He said different services have been introduced especially for women and children. The health minister also hosted a launch for representatives from South-East-Asia.
He thanked the representatives of 11 countries and requested the health ministers of 11 countries to join and success the conference to be held in Dhaka in November next with affected people.
Earlier, Mohammad Nasim also held meeting with representative of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
