Bangladeshis in Maldives urged to remain calm

Bangladesh High Commission to the Maldives has urged the Bangladesh community there to remain calm and be cautious following the current situation.
The High Commissioner had a detailed discussion with the Bangladesh community on Wednesday briefing them on the situation and requesting them to remain calm, said a Foreign Ministry media release on Thursday.
A Bangladeshi national, Shahin Mia, was stabbed dead in a Café on March 22 in Male, the capital of the Maldives while another Bangladeshi, Bilal, was found dead in a remote island of Toordhoo on March 23, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Male immediately took up the matter with the authorities concerned of the Maldives.
High Commissioner Rear Admiral Kazi Sarwar Hossain had a meeting with President of the Maldives Abdulla Yameen about it who directed the Home Minister to enhance security.
