Bangladesh turns role model of dev from bottomless basket: Tofail

Awami League Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed on Saturday said Bangladesh has turned into a role model of development from the bottomless basket under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“If we did not give the flag of Awami League to Sheikh Hasina, trial of killers of Bangabandhu and war criminals could not be possible,” he told a grand reunion of incumbent and former leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) marking its 72nd founding anniversary at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan here.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the function as the chief guest.
Party’s General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressed the function as the special guest while AL Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak introduced the incumbent and former leaders of the BCL on the occasion.
AL Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Joint General Secretaries- Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, among others, attended the function.
BCL President Al Nahiyan Khan Joy chaired the function while General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya moderated it.
Among the former presidents and general secretaries of BCL, Khaled Mohammed Ali, Sheikh Sahidul Islam, Bahalul Majnun Chunnu, Dr Mustafa Jalal Mahiuddin, KM Jahangir, Abdul Mannan, Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed, Abdur Rahman, Shahe Alam, Ashim Kumar Ukil, Mainuddin Hasan Chowdhury, Iqbalur Rahim, AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, Ishak Ali Khan Panna, Bahadur Bapari, Ajay Kar Khokon, Liakat Shikder, Nazrul Islam Babu, Mahmud Hasan Ripon, Mahfujul Haider Chowdhury Roton, HM Badiuzzaman Sohag, Saifur Rahman Sohag and SM Jakir Hossain were present on the dias.
Tofail said Sheikh Hasina is not only a political leader but also a statesman. Under her able leadership, the country is moving forwards to become a developed nation by 2041, he said.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had founded Chhatra League to spearhead the movement for the emancipation of Bangalee nation.
Bangabandhu, Bangladesh, Chhatra League and Awami League are intertwined with each other, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Obaidul Quader urged the leaders and workers of BCL to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make the organization a dignified one.
The AL general secretary called upon them not to get involved with any wrongdoing.
He said if Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina did not return home in 1981, the country’s unprecedented development could not be possible.
