Qatar Weightlifting Competition: Bangladesh finish fifth

Sports Reporter :Bangladesh Women’s Weightlifting team finished fifth in the Qatar 2nd International Cup Weightlifting Competition, 17th Youth Women’s & Men’s Weightlifting Competition, Asian & Arab (Youth & Junior) Weightlifting Competition, which concluded recently. The Competitions were held at the Al Saad Sports Club in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.Bangladeshi weightlifters bagged two silver medals and one bronze medal to become fifth.Members of Bangladesh Weightlifting team will return Dhaka today.A total of 36 countries took part in the weightlifting competitions.China secured first place, Egypt achieved second position, Chinese Taipei obtained third position, India became fourth, Iraq earned the sixth spot, Saudi Arabia finished seventh, Kazakhstan achieved eighth position, Algeria took the ninth slot and Uzbekistan finished 10th.It is noteworthy that Molla Sabira Sultana of Bangladesh bagged silver medal in the 53kg weight category of the Qatar 2nd International Cup Weightlifting Competition while Johra Akhter Reshma of Bangladesh won silver medal in the 44 kg weight category of 17th Youth Asian Weightlifting Competition and Mabia Akhter Simanto of Bangladesh got bronze medal in the 63 kg weight category of the Asian & Arab Weightlifting Competition.Kajol Dutta and Shahria Sultana Suchi are the coaches of Bangladesh Weightlifting team while President of Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation Manzoor Kader Quraishi is the Team Leader of the Bangladeshi contingent.General Secretary of the Federation Wing Commander (Retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed went to Qatar as the Technical Officer and Khurshida Khatun Khushi visited Qatar as the Referee.
