Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed

Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies pledged to build the prosperous Sonar Bangla free from exploitation and poverty as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
They were addressing separate discussions organised by district and city units of AL and its associate bodies at the party offices and Bangabandhu Square premises in the city to celebrate the 46th Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu on Thursday .
The district and city units of AL and its associate bodies chalked out elaborate programmes to pay due homage to Father of the Nation and Architect of Independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in celebrations of the day.
The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags atop party offices, placing of wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, bringing out of a huge rally followed by placing wreaths at the Mural of Bangabandhu and discussions.
Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, President of city AL Shafiar Rahman Shafi and Presidents of the other associate bodies presided over the discussions held at their respective offices and Bangabandhu Square in the city.
General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, General Secretary of its city unit Tushar Kanti Mandal, Joint General Secretary of district AL Shahinur Rahman Sohel, Convener of city unit of Jatiya Sramik League Monirul Haque Miltan, President of district Chhatra League Mehedi Hassan Siddique Rony, among others, addressed.
The speakers expressed their firm commitments to work unitedly for building the long-cherished prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu to make independence meaningful for the common people by fulfilling their hopes and aspirations.
Shafiar Rahman Shafi said Bangabandhu struggled uncompromisingly for his whole life for giving the nation dignity, identity and recognition with a flag in the world arena upholding his political ideologies under any circumstances.
Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju stressed on building rock-solid unity among the leaders and activists of AL and its associate bodies for building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed called for further strengthening the hands of Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina to accelerate national uplifts on the way to build a developed and peaceful Bangladesh free from poverty, exploitation and discrimination.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Local unit of Awami League and it’s front organisations on Thursday observed the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner here.
Marking the day, the leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop party offices and garlanded the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders this morning.
They brought out a procession that paraded different city streets and ended reaching on the party office’s premises at Kumarpara. Besides, a discussion was held highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
AL city unit vice-presidents Meer Iqbal, Nawsher Ali and Shafiqur Rahman, general secretary Dablu Sarker, joint-secretary Naimul Huda Rana and organising secretary Aslam Sarker were, among others, present.
Rajshahi Medical University observed the day at its temporary campus in the city. Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Masum Habib was present on the occasion.
Rajshahi College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League also brought out a procession in the city, marking the historic day.
The Homecoming Day was also observed at Rajshahi University (RU) by taking various programmes.
Floral wreaths were placed on the central Shaheed Minar marking the day. RU vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan and its Pro-VCs Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha and Prof Chowdhury Jakaria were, among others, present on the occasion.
Besides, RU unit of Bangabandhu Parishad and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall observed the day.
