Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary, Nat’l Children’s Day observed

The country has celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day in a befitting manner on Thursday. Our correspondents report:

Gazipur Correspondent reports: Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) celebrates the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day on Thursday with profound respect and various programs.
The day’s programme included hoisting the national flag at the time of sunrise and awarding the Guard of Honor, laying wreath at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, flying balloons, joyous rally, cutting cake, drawing and Bangabandhu’s life based speech competition, poetry recitation, cultural programs, special munajat/prayers and illumination.
The day’s programmes were begun with hoisting the national flag with national anthem and guard of honor in front of the BARI headquarters. Then BARI Director General Dr. Debasish Sarker with other directors, scientists, officers, staff and labors of the institute laid wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Director General then inaugurated the day’s program by flying balloons in front of BARI head office. Later, a joyous rally was held led by Director General of BARI with the participation of scientists, officials, employees, workers, students of all levels of the Institute. The joyous rally encircles BARI’s main thoroughfare. Then they cut a cake in front of BARI head office.
Later, a poetry recitation, cultural and discussion program was held at Kazi Badruddoza Auditorium of the Institute. BARI’s Director (Support & Services) Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Director (Research) Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Director (Planning and Evaluation) Dr. Apurba Kanti Chowdhury, Director (ORC) Dr. Md. Abdul Latif Akand, Director (Training and Communication) Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Director (HRC) Dr. Mossammat Samsunnahar, Director (TCRC) Dr. Sohela Akter were present on the occasion. Leaders of the BARI Scientists Association (BARISA), Diploma Krishibid Institution BARI Branch, BARI Employees Welfare Society (BARIKA), BARI Fourth Class Employees Association (BARICHA), BARI Workers Association, were also spoke on the occasion. Scientists, officers, staff, teachers, workers and students of all levels of the institute were present at the occasion.
Besides, special Munajat were offered at BARI Jame Mosque after Zuhr prayer and special prayers were offered at BARI temple and church marking the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day. The head office of BARI was also illuminated in the evening marking the day.
Staff Reporter, Rangpur says: On the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day, wreaths were laid at the mural of Bangabandhu in Rangpur, rallies of heroic freedom fighters, liberation festivals and fairs were also organized.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Bangabandhu’s mural at DC Office in Rangpur City on Thursday at the initiative of the District Administration. Wreaths were handed over by Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and representatives of various government and non-government departments, heroic freedom fighters, political leaders, representatives of socio-cultural organizations and people of all walks of life. After that guard of honor was given on the mural of Bangabandhu.
Later, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan inaugurated the release ceremony by flying pigeons and balloons on the premises of Mukti Utsav and Subarna Jayanti Mela Town Hall. City Mayor Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya, Commissioner of Police Md. Abdul Alim Mahmud BPM, DC Md. Asib Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, former commander Moshaddek Hossain Babul and other concerned freedom fighters were present. Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahab Bhoona inaugurated the rally on the occasion of Subarna Jayanti with 50 national flags from Rangpur Town Hall. This rally of Subarna Jayanti led by the heroic freedom fighters will go around different upazilas of Rangpur district till March 21.
Sarishabari (Jamalpur) Correspondent reports: The birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day were celebrated in Sarishabari Upazial on Thursday. A prize giving ceremony of an art competition was held at Sarishabari Upazila Parishad premises on the occasion. Former state minister for information and broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan MP was present as the Chief Guest and Upazila chairman FF’s Gias Uddin Pathan, Mayor Monir Uddin, Assistant commissioner (land) Faizul Wasima Nahat, principal Sarowar Jahan ,Dr Abdullah Al Mamun were present as the special guest there.
Besides, teachers and students of different institutions, journalists, and others were present.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners. UNO Upama Farisa presided over the function.
Kurigram Correspondent says: Wheel chairs were formally distributed among physical disabled persons by Kurigram Zila Parishad in the eve of birth day of BangoBandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman in Zilla Parishad Office premises on Thursday. Funded by Zilla Parishad a total 34 wheel chair were distributed. The physical disabled persons received such wheel chair as per official system.
A discussion meeting was also held there where chairman of Zila Parishad and also president of Kurigram district unit of Awami League former MP Alhaj Jafar Ali was present as the chief guest while Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faridul Islam was presided over the meeting. Assistant Engineer of Zilla Parishad Mizanur Rahman and office staff were also present. Zilla Parishad member Mahbuba Begum Lovely, Sheuly Begum, Ekramul Haque Bulbul, Secretary of Kurigram Sports Organization Abu Mohammad Sayed Hasan Loban and political leaders spoke among others.
The speakers said Zila Parishad performs many welfare activities for poor and unemployed persons such as sewing training, computer training, computer and laptop distribution for poor and meritorious students, musical instruments, scratch, wheel chair for physical disabled poor persons and financial help for various purposes.
Earlier Zila Parishad office staff led by chairman of Zila Parishad Alhaj Jafar Ali and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faridul Islam placed floral writhe to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman at Trimohoni area under Sadar upazila in the morning. Art competition for children, prize giving ceremony and cultural function were also held in the conference room of Zila Parishad. Kurigram District Administration performed various program in the whole day including hoisting national flag, placing floral writhe in the portrait of BangoBandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman at Shadhinatar Bijoy Stambha in front of Kurigram Stadium, blood donation in the Hospital, discussion meeting and cultural organization. Doa Mahfil, essay competition, discussion meeting and cultural function were also held in educational institutes in upazila levels. Special prayers also held in all mosques, temples and church, lighting in all offices, playing for children, cutting cake and organizing of Mela(Festival) in Shadhinatar Bajoy Stambho of Outer Stadium.
Tarash (Sirajganj) Correspondent says: Local MP Prof Dr Abdul Aziz, Chairman of Upazila Parishad Principal Moniruzzaman Moni, Bir Muktijoddha Arshe Islam laid a wreath at the mural of Bangabandhu on the Upazila Parishad premises on the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birthday and National Children’s Day in Tarash, Sirajganj on Thursday. Upazila Awami League, Juba League, Chhatra League, various social and political organizations including police administration and people of all walks of life were present there.
Later, organized by the Upazila Administration, a rally was brought out in different parts of the city and a discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of UNO Md. Mezbaul Karim. At the end, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birthday was celebrated by cutting a cake, prizes were distributed among the winners of cultural competition and a cultural programme was held. Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Anwar Hossain Khan, lecturer Morzina Islam, government officials, employees and leaders and workers of Awami League were present.
Bijoynagar (Brahmanbaria) Correspondent adds: “Joy Bangla” with the national anthem in front National Children’s Day and 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been celebrated at Kazi Md. Shafiqul Islam University College in Bijaynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday under the chairmanship of Shafiqur Rahman, Principal of Kazi Md. Shafiqul Islam University College and conducted by Prof Ahmedur Rahman Binkash of the college
Also present on the occasion were Kazi Harishur Rahman, Acting President of the College and Chief Guest of the occasion.
Ranjan Kumar Ghosh, in-charge of Islampur Outpost, Ijazur Rahman Rakib, General Secretary of Press Club Bijoynagar Ziadul Haque were present as special guests.
A huge rally was organized at the end of the discussion meeting, after which the cake was cut and a prize giving of poetry recitation ceremony was also held.
