Bangabandhu ULAB Fair Play Cup 2020, the Inter-Private University T20 Cricket Tournament organized and hosted by the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, was inaugurated at the ULAB Cricket Ground in Mohammadpur recently.
Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, was present as Chief Guest in the ceremony and declared the tournament open in his inaugural speech. Kazi Inam Ahmed, Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Member, ULAB Board of Trustees, gave the opening speech. Prof Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the ULAB Board of Trustees, along with the Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students of participating universities, and journalists were present at the ceremony. Later the inaugural match was held between the host ULAB and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Winning the toss IUB invited ULAB to bat. ULAB scored 198 runs with 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, IUB scored 144 runs from 20 overs with 8 wickets. As a result, ULAB won by 54 runs. ULAB’s captain Hasanuzzaman was Man of the Match scoring 63 runs from 29 balls and getting 2 wickets. This year the tournament is named Bangabandhu ULAB Fair Play Cup in honor of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
